The idea behind these sets of images and the associated time-based images, is to do with the fact that when I was in New York, whenever we went into a strong culture area like Harlem or Chinatown I got an immense sense of being the minority and the fact that despite being surrounded by skyscrapers etc, after a while you forget that you are in New York. With these pieces I have purposely tried to overload the images both visually and through sound to try and replicate this feeling. I have included a dollar note in my pieces to say that as you walk through these different areas, this is the only factor that remains constant and reminds you that you are in New York.
